All About Harrow Concert Band

Harrow Concert Band has been a community wind band for over 80 years. We offer an opportunity for wind players (flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, saxophones, horns, trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, tubas) and percussionists from all backgrounds and of all capabilities to practise and perform a wide variety of music in an informal and friendly atmosphere. You are guarranteed to find us welcoming.

We rehearse every Sunday morning from 10.00 to 12.00 at the Harrow Arts Centre, except when we have a concert later the same day.

For further details call Roger Hewitt on 07977 523 112 or email: conductor@harrowconcertband.org.uk for further details or just turn up with an instrument and enthusiasm.

Harrow Concert Band has members from a wide variety of backgrounds and a wide age range. We are not professional musicians, although a few have a semi-professional musical element to their working life, some of us are retired. The aim of the band is to make music, live music. We operate on an equal opportunity basis, the only requirement is an enthusiasm to make music with wind or percussion instruments at almost any level (although it is not recommended for absolute beginners!).

We have a variety of professions among our players: (in no particular order) a chemical engineer, a computer analyst & programmer, a plumber, a retailer, secretaries of various sorts, a company director, some students and some who have retired from the rat race.

A range of non-musical interests is also to be found from playing bridge and solving crosswords to extreme sports via steam-train enthusiasm and model railways, science-fiction and several stops between.

We cover a wide range of ages from young to more senior and a range of musical experience. Most live in the Borough of Harrow or adjoining boroughs, but some travel up to 30 miles every week for rehearsal and for concerts.

Above all, we share an enthusiasm for making music together. So turn up and give us a try – no audition necessary. Try us for a free week or two and we think you’ll want to join us.
