All About… Ruislip, Northwood & Eastcote Local History Society

The Ruislip, Northwood & Eastcote Local History Society aim to promote the conservation of Ruislip’s heritage and to bring the history of this area to life. Join us today and help conserve our heritage for tomorrow!

Situated in Middlesex, on the edge of the Greater London area also known as Metroland, Ruislip, Northwood and Eastcote together form the ancient 11th century parish of Ruislip. Ruislip Parish map, 1866

On the news and views pages you will find information about local concerns, news from the Manor Farm Working Party and details of how you can put forward your views and comments to the local council, plus reports of outings.

The Society meets throughout Autumn and Winter to listen to talks, and in summer organise outings including walks and tours.

They welcome new members including corresponding members who may not be able to attend meetings regularly – you will receive all journals and newsletters by post.

The society was started in 1964 and since that time we have produced and published a great deal of research about our heritage and have promoted the conservation of the area through consultation with the local council, arranging lectures and conferences, mounting exhibitions for the local community and the formation of various working parties (e.g. Woodlands; Manor Farm).

It’s a varied group of people of different ages, with one common interest – our local heritage!

For some, the society provides a social, yet informative outlet.  For others it provides a setting for research and discussion. In order to share some interest with the local community, they’ve mounted exhibitions in Manor Farm House as part of the London Borough of Hillingdon Arts Service and Medieval Festival.

They meet on the third Monday of the month from September to April at 8.15pm in St. Martin’s Church Hall, High Street, Ruislip.  For details see the programme.  During the summer we organise several outings and walks/tours.

  • Cost of individual membership is £12.00 (or £6 individual under 18 yrs)
Cost of joint membership is £20.00

They also welcome ‘Corresponding Members’.  For details of this or any membership enquiry, please contact the Membership Secretary.
