All About… Stanmore Choral Society

The choir is about 60 members strong, and is expanding. Our membership is drawn from Stanmore, Harrow, Edgware, Brent, Barnet, Bushey and Pinner – new Members are very welcome. Our conductor is Nick Austin. Stanmore Choral Society was established in 1946.

Sanmore Choral Society is a very friendly choir and if you’re at all interested in joining us, you would be most welcome to come along to our Monday evening rehearsals to see how you get on. You will be made very welcome and it is easy to make friends in the choir, we have a very chatty coffee break!!

The rehearsals are always very enjoyable and, although Nick, our Musical Director always wants the best from us, he ensures that there is plenty of fun as well. There is not a formal audition but after about four weeks Nick will listen to you to check how you are managing and to be sure that you are singing in the correct voice part. We are lucky in our choir that one of our members produces free practice CDs for us to use at home.

Our rehearsals are on a Monday evening at 7.45pm – 9.45pm at St Lawrence’s Church Hall, Whitchurch Lane, Edgware, HA8 6QS. You can just come along to a rehearsal but if you would like to know a bit more about us, do not hesitate to call Mo Dunning on 020 8909 1838.
