Bob Says: I Welcome New Funding for Local A&E Departments

bob_blackman3Bob Blackman, MP for Harrow East, has welcomed the announcement of new funding to help North West London Hospitals NHS Trust prepare for any additional demand on services that might occur this winter.

Today the Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, announced that £6,400,000 will be made available to the A&E department of our local hospitals to ensure they can provide a good service to everyone who will need it this Christmas.

This comes in addition to a long term plan by the Health Secretary to deal with the pressures on A&E such as having a named GP accountable for care, investment in new technology to ensure patient records are shared between hospitals and family doctors and more money for social care.

Commenting, Bob Blackman MP, said: ‘This extra funding will come as a welcome relief for the hardworking NHS staff working to serve people in our area. The extra money will be a very welcome boost this winter when A&E departments come under most pressure. I am pleased that we are seeing such positive outcomes from the Government’s decision to increase NHS spending, despite opposition from the Labour Party.”
