  • A child who receives Income Support can also apply for free school meals themselves.
  • You will not be entitled to free school meals if you or your partner are receiving Working Tax Credit.

Foster carers cannot apply for free school meals as their foster funding is intended to include money for school meals.

You can apply for free school meals at any time of the year. However Free School Meals cannot be backdated.

Entitlement to Free School Meals will continue whilst you are in receipt of one or more of the relevant benefits. This entitlement will be continually checked and will continue throughout the academic years. You will not need to re-apply unless asked to do so, in this case you will be sent a renewal form for Free School Meals.

In order to apply for free school meals:

  • You can call Harrow Council to request an application form for either Free School Meals or the Extended Free School Meals.
  • Complete the online application form on the right, print this off and bring it along to the One Stop Shop, Civic 1, Civic Centre, Harrow or alternatively send the completed application form to Pupil Support.
  • If applications are brought directly into the One Stop Shop, an Education Advisor will be able to check your eligibility, if you are found to be eligible then they will be able to give you a memo confirming this. The memo is for you to take into your child(ren)’s school(s) to instantly start your Free School Meals.

Opening times for the One Stop Shop are: 9.00am – 5pm Monday to Friday

If you require any assistance completing your application form please contact Pupil Support or visit the One Stop Shop where an advisor will be able to assist you or contact your child’s School.
