Council Boots Out Capita; Brings in Another IT Supplier

harrow_council_logoA £37 million contract with Sopra Steria has been signed by Harrow Council to provide IT services for the council, which replaces the Capita contract which introduced more IT issues that it appeared to solve.

The new supplier will be upgrading the IT systems across the council to ensure staff and residents can take advantage of new technology and access more digital services.

The contract with Sopra Steria will commence 1 November for a period of five years. Sopra Steria will be responsible for the day-to-day IT services and support across the council.  The services will cost £37m over the 5 year term which delivers a saving of around 20 percent on the current contract, whilst delivering improvements in a number of key areas that will benefit council users and residents.

The council hasn’t indicated what ‘key areas” will “benefit” residents.
