From a pew to a thrill – James Bond abseils for the Mayor and her charities!

smiling_bondHis mission was simple – abseil the 100 foot drop from the top of the church tower at St Albans Church, The Ridgeway, North Harrow, reach the ground unharmed and in the process start the fund raising for the Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Nana Asante’s chosen charities.

We can report, and the pictures prove it, that Bond, Cllr Bond was seen at the top of the church tower at the recent St Albans Church Summer Fair and moments later he went over the side all in aid of Flash Musicals and Harrow Community Choir.

Cllr Bond, who like his Ian Fleming creation namesake, likes the thrill of an adventure had never abseiled before but clearly enjoyed his descent from the heavens landing safely only to be greeted by the immortal words: “Ah, Mr Bond, we’ve been expecting you!”

Flash Musicals is one of the Mayor’s charities and exists to offer people from a low income and disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to become involved in the performing arts. The charity is particularly keen to work with people across the age range who are disabled or have other special needs. The Flash Musicals theatre in Edgware is an established community hub open to all.

The choir helps build self confidence, encourages creativity and offers a way for communities to socialise and perform in public on a regular basis.
