Get set for summer with Harrow Council’s holiday activities

harrow_council_logo2Young people can stamp out the holiday blues with exciting holiday activities taking place throughout the borough this summer.

Harrow Council’s Youth Development team have put together a major programme of events for young people including fashion design, music production, theatre and film making.

There is also special programme of events organised by the council’s Early Intervention Services under the Positive for Youth programme. Under this scheme, Harrow’s young people have had the chance to choose some of the great activities they can take part in during the school holidays.

All these activities are funded by the council and are for young people aged 13 to 19. They aim to give young people a sense of belonging and ambition, as well as teaching them how to develop supportive relationships and realise their potential, while building self confidence and learning new skills. They will also have fun and make friends. The majority of events are free and open to everyone, while some focus particularly on children who may be vulnerable or need extra support.

Football, radio production training, event management, workshops and social activities are all on offer after youngsters chose what they would most like to do.

Arts activities taking place at Harrow Arts Centre and sporting opportunities from Watford FC are also on offer.

Harrow Council Portfolio Holder for Children, Schools and Families Cllr Zarina Khalid, said:

“The summer holidays are the best time to have fun, learn new skills and make new friends. These events are set to make summer in Harrow bigger and better than ever before. There is something for everyone, and I hope all of the borough’s young people find something that suits them.”
