Harrow Council and the Art of Timing

failIn another crassly appalling display of insensitivity, the Harrow Council issued a press release with a quote from Phil “Champagne” O’Dell  saying how “committed” the council is to making Harrow a “…safe and pleasant place…” just 48 hours after a 23-year old man was stabbed a mere half a mile away from the Civic Centre.

April 22, 2013, 17:15: A man is stabbed outside a chicken takeaway in Harrow.

April 24, 2013, 18:23: Incident reported on by local papers.

April 25, 2013, 16:13: Harrow Council issues a press release quoting  Portfolio Holder for Environment and Community Safety Cllr Philip O’Dell as saying: “Harrow Council is committed to making the borough a safe and pleasant place to live for all of our residents.”

Good work, Harrow Council. Would it have done any harm to wait a couple of weeks before publishing the press release?
