Harrow Council: Clueless over funding for local NHS

harrow_council_broken_2Back in February, Harrow Council, at a regular Council Meeting, Councillor Anne Whitehead and Councillor Varsha Parmar presented a motion about local NHS funding.

Part of this read: “The council resolves… The Council’s Chief Executive to write to the Secretary of state, Jeremy Hunt MP, to ask for a review of the inadequate funding resources that our local Harrow CCG receives.”

Chief Exec Lockwood, were he (a) awake at this point, and (b) comprehending of this demand, might just have heard a whisper from behind that actually, it isn’t Jeremy Hunt’s Department of Health that sets out local NHS funding, but rather NHS England, and has been for the last two and a half years. Asking the Department of Health is clearly the wrong thing to do.

If Cllrs Whitehead and Parmar had done their homework, they may well have figured out that they were directing the weary Mr Lockwood on a hiding to nowhere. Oops.

What a clueless bunch we have that call themselves a council and having the gall to pay themselves the money paid by local taxpayers.
