Harrow Council Gives Up on Planning Portal

harrow_council_logoAt last. After years of the council’s website staggering from one outage to another, the council has finally come clean and admitted it’s not fit for purpose, directing residents to use email to comment on applications if the ‘facility is unavailable.’

The planning portal has been the most unstable, unreliable, broken and flaky implementations of a customer-facing web service we’ve seen in a long time – clearly, Dave and his bunch of merry munchkins have given up on ever getting fixed – hardly surprising, given the mess they’ve made with the rest of the council’s IT.

Expect next week’s update to suggest a further reversion to carrier pigeon, once email falls flat on it’s face.

20150127_planning_websiteGiven that the council has recently quoted a typical response time of one month to it’s very own community champions, should they email the council, it’s entirely possible that comments quite simply won’t arrive in time. But what a staggeringly good way to stop the great unwashed getting in touch.

Thanks to anon for the tip off.

At least the Munchkins could sing in tune and entertain us. Are you suggesting the leader Dave is like the wizard of Oz? If so the two following quotes would seem to apply!

“Oh, no, my dear; I’m really a very good man, but I’m a very bad Wizard, I must admit.”

“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain”
