Harrow Council Offering £1.4m Tree Contract

park_areaHorticulture Week has an article concerning Harrow Council’s plans to tender for a £1.4 million arboriculture contract across the borough.

The article says:

Harrow Council has a stock of around 300,000 trees, of which around 18,000 are beside roads and around 60,000 are spread throughout parks, schools, housing estates, allotments and cemeteries.

The rest are located in four countryside sites of 102 hectares and nine woodlands of 28ha.

In the first lot Harrow is looking for a contractor to manage cyclical arboriculture maintenance, reactive maintenance and an emergency call-out service 365 days a year.

    I presume this will be an open and transparent tender process with all friends and family and pecuniary interest fully declared. Then again I would like to think the tree work will actually get done this time…Susie I don’t suppose we can have an audit of the current contractor?
