Harrow Council Seeks Snouts on Syrian Travel

harrow_council_logoHarrow Council’s Cohesion and Engagement Manager, Samia Malik, has put her name to a message sent to schools across the borough this week, asking that staff contact police if they become concerned that they hear of anyone planning to travel to Syria.

The bizarrely-worded request says (in part):

Individuals who travel to Syria risk being detained and arrested on their return to the UK… Some people who travel from the UK to fight will pose a security threat when they return.

Ominously, it continues:

If you have concerns about someone who is planning to travel to Syria – for whatever reason – you should contact police. Together with our partners we have a range of options available that could help reduce the risk to their safety.

Odd. Very odd indeed.
