Harrow Council will appoint its next Mayor on May 21st.

Councillor Ajay Maru will be nominated as Deputy Mayor at the same meeting.

Councillor Ajay Maru said: “I am delighted to be nominated for the role of the Deputy Mayor. I will do full justice to the role if I am appointed. I have a better understanding of Harrow’s community and businesses and would utilise that in my role, along with my interpersonal skills.”
The Mayor is the first citizen of the borough and always has precedence in the borough unless royalty or the Lord Lieutenant is present.

The Mayor chairs the council meetings and carries out many engagements during the year, ranging from major civic functions to smaller, more personal celebrations, such as 100th birthdays.
