Harrow Council’s Cabinet Meeting – Save the Date: October 17, 2013

harrow_council_logoOne of the many issues that residents seem to raise again, again and again, is not knowing what their elected – and paid! – councillors get up to. One event each month, worthy of dragging yourself is the Cabinet Meeting, which sees all kind of bun-fights, as well as serious business, being discussed.

October’s Cabinet is set for October 17, 2013 from 6.30pm.

Typically, the best part of this is the Public and Councillor question time – two 15-minute sessions where members of the public can, by arrangement, ask a question of any member of cabinet. Historically, these have been spun out by the responding member, so it’ll be interesting to see if this changes for the better with the new leader, Cllr Susan Hall, presiding over things with her new, hopefully smartly turned-out, cabinet.

Assuming you stay for the only the question sessions, this should all be over and done with by 7.15pm. You can, of course, stay for the whole show, which should wrap up by around 10.00pm or so. Here’s our notes from a previous meeting.

You can find the agenda, and all the background papers, here. I’m not going to pretend it’s three hours of fun, but it’s an excellent way to see democracy in action. Hopefully, we’ll be tweeting live from the meeting, so you can follow us on Twitter as @iharrow.
