Harrow Council’s Snow Update – February 6, 2012

Harrow’s main roads have been well gritted over the weekend and again this morning, with gritting lorries out around the clock.

Salt works best on heavily trafficked roads and all main roads are now clear.  Other roads that have been salted, but have a lower flow of traffic, will take longer to clear and caution is advised.

See the Council’s gritting routes.

The borough’s refuse crews are collecting waste and recycling from homes today but due to the road conditions, may not collect everyone’s bins. If this is the case, further information will be provided. The Council’s street cleaning teams are clearing snow from main shopping areas, train stations, and around important facilities such as schools.

Harrow’s meals-on-wheels service is delivering to all of its clients as normal today and operated a full service yesterday. The team do an important job in visiting older or vulnerable residents.

After a review of the boroughs paths this morning, it was decided not to run Special Needs Transport today. All special needs schools in Harrow have been informed, as well as parents/carers and clients via the text messaging service.

The council has not been advised of any school closures today. Residents can keep updated by checking out school closure webpage.
