Harrow goes to PRIDE – July 8, 2017

It’s summer and it’s time for some fun – grab your rainbow flag and join Harrow and Brent’s entry at London’s biggest LGBT festival, Pride in London, on Saturday 8 July.

Come along to what will be the liveliest and most colourful parade to date.

Pride in London is all about being proud of who you are today – so if you want to make your voice heard and stand up for what you believe in, this is your chance to be part of something special. This year Harrow will march in solidarity with neighbouring borough, Brent Council and the local community to this year’s theme ‘Love Happens Here’.

Councillor Varsha Parmar, Portfolio Holder for Equality and Wellbeing, said:

“Pride is a wonderful celebration of diversity that reminds us all to appreciate each others differences and be proud of who we are today. Why not join us at the PRIDE festival and cheer on the LGBT community. It’s fantastic that we’re marching with our neighbours Brent, we’re all incredibly excited and hope residents celebrate with us – it really is a special day.”

Pride in London is a fantastic event for everyone to look forward to and enjoy this summer. As well as the parade, there will be lots of entertainment including music, inspirational speakers and pop-up bars by the main stage in Trafalgar Square.

Councillor Margaret McLennan, Deputy Leader and Chair of the Equalities Committee in Brent, said:

“Here in Brent we are proud to be one of the most diverse boroughs in the UK and we have a long history of supporting and celebrating our LBGT community. I really would encourage residents to join us in a celebration of tolerance and hope in our great city.”

The Harrow and Brent marching group also welcome any Dhol players, musicians or dance groups to come and join in on the fun and march alongside us.
