Harrow Industrial Action – November, 30 2011

In response to proposals by the Government to change public sector pension schemes, including the Local Government Pension Scheme, trade union members have voted to take strike action across the country on 30th November 2011.

This is a national dispute and not something that Harrow Council can resolve.

The Council will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum and we are putting contingency plans into place. Our absolute priority is maintaining services for those people who need our help most, especially emergency services.

Here is the latest update:

Waste and recycling
There will be no waste or recycling collections in Harrow on Wednesday and we apologise for any inconvenience. However, if your collection is normally on a Wednesday we ask you to please leave your bins out and we will endeavour to collect them as soon as possible. The Waste, Refuse, Recycling Centre on Forward Drive will also close on Wednesday and is likely to be very busy on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd December.

Children’s Centres
Due to the closure of Grange Primary School, Grange Children’s Centre will not open on Wednesday. All other children’s centres will be open as normal.

Adults social care
The Meals on Wheels services will be operating normally on Wednesday.
The Special Needs Transport Service will be closed and all service users have been notified.

Libraries and Leisure Centres
The Civic Centre Library and Gayton Library will open as normal on Wednesday. All other branch libraries always close on Wednesdays.

All Leisure Centres are open as normal.

The list of affected schools can be found here.
