Harrow International Women’s Day: Inspiring Change – March 8, 2014

harrow_council_logoThe Mayor of Harrow Cllr Nana Asante invites you to join her on Saturday 8 March to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) which celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action.

The theme of IWD 2014 day is Inspiring Change. The Mayor will be holding an International Women’s Day convention in the Council Chamber from 5pm-7pm. The Leader of the Council, Cllr Susan Hall and a number of entrepreneurs in the health and wellbeing industry will speak on the theme and champion the achievements of independent women.

Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Nana Asante said: “International Women’s Day is about celebrating the great achievements of women around the world. This Saturday, we want to Inspire Change by sharing stories of overcoming challenges, empowering women and girls to embrace positive change. It is your chance to hear about the success of others, begin your own journey to success and equality or share your story.”

Leader of the Council Cllr Susan Hall said: “This year’s theme is ‘Inspiring Change’. The convention aims to inspire social change, empowering women to make positive achievements. This Saturday will be a day of celebrating the achievements of women in the Harrow borough and worldwide. I look forward to seeing everyone who attends.”

Residents attending will also be treated to health and fitness advice/tips and demonstrations as well as a performance by Harrow Community Choir.

The event takes place at Harrow Civic Centre, on Station Road – Saturday, 8 March 2014 from 12pm.
