Harrow residents wanted for jobs at Cedars Youth and Community Centre

The hunt is on for Harrow residents to fill job vacancies at the flagship Cedars Youth and Community Centre, opening in spring 2012.

Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust is advertising now for a number of roles to help with the smooth running of the state-of-the-art centre in Harrow Weald. They include reception/duty staff, a caretaker and a cleaner.

Construction of the state-of-the-art centre, which will provide new sports facilities as part of Harrow’s Olympic legacy, is nearing completion. The new centre will be kitted out with an all weather football pitch, brand-new multi use sports hall, gym and climbing wall, as well as a café, IT and education facilities.

Harrow Council and Watford Football Club teamed up to build the centre after securing a grant from the Big Lottery Fund. Local residents and Weald Tenants and Residents Association worked in partnership with the Council and Watford FC on the design and contents of the new facility.

Cllr Mitzi Green, portfolio holder for children’s services on Harrow Council, said:

“Alongside spectacular sports and community facilities, this excellent new facility is providing local jobs for local residents.

“Watford FC are ready and waiting for applications from people in Harrow for a range of essential posts needed to keep the centre running smoothly.

“This has always been a real community project getting users and residents involved in the design and I’m pleased to see that residents will be integral to its future.”

Neil Hart, Head of Community Development at Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust, said:

“It is crucial that Cedars Youth & Community Centre provides local jobs for local people and this is the first step on that journey – we are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a real difference to their community. While the centre will have a focus on developing young people’s potential we need people who can engage in a positive manner with all sectors of the community. This could be your opportunity to get involved in something very special.”
