Harrow to Raise Flag for Armed Forces Day – June 23, 2014

harrow_council_logoHarrow Council is proud to be showing its support for the Armed Forces on Monday 23rd June 2014 with the raising of the Armed Forces flag, ahead of national Armed Forces Day on Saturday 28th June 2014.

The Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Ajay Maru will be leading the flag-raising ceremony at Harrow Civic Centre from 10:30am. He said: “This is a tremendous opportunity to show our appreciation for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, and the sacrifices they make for the freedom of others. In Harrow, we are committed to working very closely with the Armed Forces and our co-operation was reaffirmed last year with the signing of our Armed Forces Covenant. I am honoured to be raising the flag on Monday and we will continue to give our servicemen and women the support they deserve.”

The Mayor will be joined by:

  • Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Keith Ferry
  • Deputy Lieutenant John Purnell
  • Deputy Mayor, Cllr Krishna Suresh
  • Borough Commander, Chief Superintendent Simon Ovens

Everyone is welcome to come and see the Civic Ceremony which will be followed by a speech from the Mayor and the hoisting of the flag. The Deputy Lieutenant will lead the Universal Prayer for Peace, and the ceremony will end with the National Anthem.

    David perry not bothering to attend ? Suppose that’s the problem when you have a part time councillor. 30,000 for this? Outrageous. Sack him.
