@Harrow_Council Expenditure – April-June 2014

harrow_council_logoAccording to figures published on the Council’s website, it seems that around £150,000 was spent on accommodation for Asylum seekers in the borough between April and June this year.

Line items in the report show payments to the Gayton Hotel of almost £30,000 per month, as well as smaller amounts to the St Nicholas Hotel – the ‘home’ of one of Labour’s candidates for Pinner in the 2014 elections.

Agency Staff clocked up nearly £2,000,000 a month, with the Pertemps Group of Companies taking the lions share of that.

Capita, everyone’s favourite outsourcing partner, racked in over £7,000,000 during those three months, including nearly £1000 in ‘Travel Expenses (Staff)’, or, slicing the data another way, the total cost of ‘Consultants fee’ over that period was over £4,500,000.

“Legal fees’ racked up just under a million. Signing/interpreting cost £60,000.  Almost half a million was attributted to “Civic [Centre] Improvements’

Have a look at the Council’s expenditure – it might surprise you where some of your hard-earned money goes.

    DISGUSTING WASTE COUNCIL MONEY
    I VISITED A HARROW HOTEL IN 2006 AND WAS TOLD IT WAS FULL OF COUNCIL HOMELESS (150) MOST ROOMS HOLDING 3 PEOPLE (NO LONGER TOOK PRIVATE GUESTS)
    THAT WAS BEFORE INFLUX OF IMMIGRANTS (THAT IS STILL GOING ON )
    TIME FOR A REPORT ON NUMBER OF ASYLEM SEEKERS AND HOMELESS ON HARROW ACCOMMODATION LIST. INCLUDING THE COST FOR THE LAST 5 YRS
    ADD THAT TO THE BENEFIT FRAUD AND SEE HOW MUCH MONEY YOU ARE WASTING HARROW COUNCIL; THAT MONEY COULD BE USED ON VITAL SERVICES

    Any time lawyers get involved, there’s going to be a big bill at the end, so I doubt there’s much the Council could do to trim that expense down.

    But, if you’re spending £4.5M on consultants, surely someone at some point would have had the good sense to ask “Can’t we hire people full time to do this?” or “Can we train our own staff to do whatever it is the consultants are doing?”
