Harrow’s Mayor… It all gets interesting

vote_tick_boxCllr Nana Asante, currently the borough’s deputy mayor has been selected by Harrow’s Labour group to become mayor for 2013/14. This is the usual ascension plan, unless a deputy mayor really does something very naughty in their time, or rather, gets caught doing it.

However, the voting on Monday night turned out to be quite interesting: according to our boy on the inside, Cllr Rekha Shah, wife of Cllr Navin Shah, was also up for the job, leading to what, we hear, was a close-run contest.

It would have been interesting if Cllr Rekha Shah had won. We could then have seen the awkward position with Cllr Navin Shah as Mayoress, which would then allow him to run as prospective parliamentary candidate for Harrow East as part of Labour’s female-only shortlist policy!

Footnote: we hear that the Cllr Shahs’ daughter is standing as a local councillor in the next elections.

No real surprises at what appears to be a Shah Dynasty being set up in Harrow. Thy must be short of money with the pittance being taken in by Clan-Shah, especially Shah-Senior as reward for virtually bankrupting the Borough.

Why is it that the bigger the Labour Failure, the greater he rewards. Sixty Grand for Mogadon-Man sitting on the useless GLA, a bundle more I am led to believe for the Fire Authority, plus the Eight Grand Harrow Councillor’s allowance. Is Our Nav still running his architectural business, or is he also raking it in as a “planning consultant” to bludgeon through planning applications in the teeth of public opposition; high rise buildings anyone, oh yes and what about Vaughan School?

The there is the dynamic Rekha with another Eight+ Grand a year coming in.

But times must be REALLY tough in the Shah household with a mere Eighty Grand Plus of taxpayer’s money coming in.

But times must be really hard, worn out shoes, no food, house freezing, car clapped out, paper on the broken windows, arse hanging out f his trousers, for them to have to force their DAUGHTER into Council Slavery for a derisory Eight Grand+ to lift the family out of abject poverty.

But I must really admire their modesty and self-effacing dignity, for despite their obviously desperate financial plight, they haven’t yet forced their son into a safe Labour seat, the equivalent of working up chimneys.

Naturally it is ALL because of the “cuts” and the rising Council Tax, numerous “Green” taxes, the quangos, tiers of government, levies, fines penalties, regulations foisted on the Working Classes by Labour……. errrrrr whoops, I meant the Tories.

I honour of this shy, retiring family, may I hope that we will now see a cross-arty proposal to rename the borough as the London Borough of Shahrrow?

Having just received my hiked Council Tax Bill, and having to graft for every penny, I really do feel their pain. (takes out small onion and dabs away a tear)
