Harrow’s Meals on Wheels Make Festive Deliveries

harrow_council_logoVulnerable and elderly people in Harrow enjoyed a traditional lunch on Christmas Day thanks to the Council’s Meals on Wheels service.

Meals on Wheels staff were joined by Cllr Barry Macleod-Cullinane, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Adults and Housing, when they delivered meals to some of the borough’s most frail and lonely residents on Christmas Day.

Residents, including Dorothy Bell and Bernard Glanville (both pictured below), were given a traditional festive lunch with all the trimmings, as well as an additional sweet treat.

Mr Glanville said: “The meals are an absolute cracker, I really appreciate the service that the council provides, the drivers always arrive on time and with a smile on their face and it makes my day, I’m happy being looked after by people who care and I welcome their friendship. I think the service is excellent and I rely on it all year round”.

Cllr Macleod-Cullinane said: “I’m extremely proud of our Meals on Wheels team for their hard work and amazing dedication. Every Christmas they help bring some festive joy into people’s homes. This service isn’t just about delivering a meal; it’s also about providing additional support for our residents. Having a member of the Council’s Meals on Wheels team visiting some of our most vulnerable service users each and every day is invaluable and is very much part of our commitment to making Harrow a cleaner, safer and fairer borough.”

Nice smile, Barry!

Good job this invaluable service is continuing and that the staff have been so friendly and warm especially since these are vulnerable elders, often not seeing anyone on a daily basis.Long may that tradition last!
