Homes for Harrow: One Year On…

harrow_council_logoHomes for Harrow

There is a shortage of housing in Harrow, especially affordable homes. As a result, we are currently considering all opportunities to increase the supply of housing, including looking at building new homes on council estates where there is suitable land and redeveloping a few key estates to provide more and better quality homes. Throughout this process, which started in spring 2013, we are committed to working with tenants, leaseholders and neighbours to deliver what is possible and what the majority of residents want.

Regular meetings with residents are being held to receive their feedback and suggestions. From this we will develop a vision and plan for each estate. This is a complex, and often lengthy, process and any scheme must meet planning requirements and be financially viable for the Housing Revenue Account as a whole. We have set up a project team, including Housing, Environment and Enterprise, and Legal colleagues, and are working with appointed architects PRP to develop plans and take them forward.
