Is Harrow Prepared for Crash Landing of Santa’s Sleigh?

random_space_fillerwhatdotheyknow.com, a website which acts as a portal for making requests to organisations under the Freedom of Information Act, has a light-hearted request from a Mr Bob Sleigh querying Harrow Council’s preparedness for a crash landing of Santa’s sleigh. It reads:

Dear Harrow Borough Council,

Please can you tell me whether you have any emergency planning documents or plans in place for a crash landing of Santa’s sleigh? Please may I have a copy.

I am interested in what animal welfare provisions you have for any reindeer that might become detached from the sleigh, and how you would deal with any re-entry from space burns to their antlers.

Yours faithfully,

Bob Sleigh

Cllr Paul Osborn, Harrow Council’s cabinet member for communications, performance and resources, said: “I can save Mr Sleigh needless nights of anxiety over this pressing issue. I am happy to confirm that Harrow Council has acres of open park for the sleigh to land safely in and a maintenance team more than capable of refitting the vehicle for its global trip. The reindeer are welcome to the foliage from Harrow’s 300,000 trees and the elves guarding the presents will not fall victim to any council ‘elf and safety’ nonsense.”

He continued: “In Harrow we like to pride ourselves on openness and speed with our freedom of information answers. I confess ‘Antler space burn’ isn’t usually prominent in the mail sack but we will come back as soon as possible with our usual flair for local government transparency.”

Mr Sleigh has made similar requests to Enfield, Barnet and Hammersmith & Fulham.
