“… it is more important than ever to show where we are spending taxpayers’ money” says Harrow

harrow_council_logoSo, why doesn’t it?

On their website, the council say:

As the Council undergoes wide ranging reform through the “Better Deal for Residents Programme: Shaping Harrow for the Future”, and responds to big cuts in government funding, it is more important than ever to show where we are spending taxpayers’ money.

And indeed, previously, this has been a goldmine of information as to where our council tax is being spent by the Council. Here’s an example where we looked at this data three years ago, and we’ve certainly touched on it since.

But, all’s gone quiet. Dave seems to have stopped publication of this data, as it only goes up to March 2014. Everything else is there, from 2010 onwards, yet it stops dead earlier this year. So, just about the time that the elections were announced. Bit worrying, right?

Worrying yes, but surprising NO! I feel that Dave and his administration are really not intending to be as transparent as perhaps they suggested they would be which is both frustrating and disappointing in equal measure.
