Labour Press Release: Cllr Husain Akhtar joins Labour ranks!

labour_roseHarrow Labour Group is pleased to announce that Cllr Husain Akhtar is now a member of the Labour Party and a member of the Labour Group. We are extremely pleased to have a Councillor of his calibre on the Labour benches. It is an indictment of Harrow Conservative Group that he was so disillusioned with them that he was unable to stay a member of that Group. It speaks volumes about their lack of understanding of Justice, Truth, Equality & Fairness.

Cllr Akhtar said: “I would like to positively contribute in advancing the work of the Labour Group. Being a very active and experienced councillor with well proven combination of expertise and a demonstrated respect for justice and truth, I wish to use these qualities to improve the quality of life locally and beyond.”

On hearing the news, Cllr Kareema Marikar commented: “Excellent news, welcome aboard!”

As the only Party with ideas on how to navigate these difficult economic times, Harrow Labour Group looks forward to putting Cllr Husain’s considerable talents to good use in making residents’ lives better. At the recent Council meeting, a People rather than Place budget was passed. The Labour Group will continue to implement strategies to improve the lives of residents. The Energy Switch could address fuel poverty by slashing bills.

A Labour Group Spokesperson said: “We are pleased Husain has joined us. While the Conservative Group has no ideas, no imagination and no vision, the Labour Group has ideas to make a positive difference even in these austere times”
