Now even the Harrow Times trolls Harrow Council!

As part of the April Fools shenanigans, local free-paper the Harrow Times trolled the Council over the street cleanliness across the borough. The story went that “Harrow is set to be given an award for being the ‘cleanest’ borough in London….” with plans for a “…ceremony… …held at the Town Hall, in Station Road, this evening.”

The story’s commentators, however, saw straight through it, as did Twitter. Except for one:

Hysterical! And sadly typical, Harrow West MP Gareth Thomas really doesn’t have a clue whats going on in Harrow and apparently neither does the chap responsible for the Environment. Labour’s Graham Henson is seen here to ‘like’ the tweet. Perhaps they should ask the residents what they think. I can promise, having just been knocking on doors in Kenton, that they would certainly not think this was a clean borough. Neither would they think an increased Council Tax (by 5%) and a garden tax of £75 per brown bin was fair either.

It is not surprising that residents could immediately identify it as an April Fool’s joke. What is amazing though is that MP Gareth Thomas and portfolio holder for the environment, Graham Henson, actually believed Harrow council could actually win an award for cleanliness.

Well more of a HT ‘spoof’ than a ‘troll’ but definitely an (Easter) “Egg on Face” situation, yes!

Not sure if believing *anything* remotely political on Twitter is particularly a good idea either but even so Messrs. Thomas and Henson should have checked first (and their calendars)?

You just couldn’t make it up. Obviously the pair of them walk around Harrow with bags over their heads (and that isn’t an April Fools Joke!!)

The clowns will hang there hats on anything that remotely makes them look good. A picture here a picture there so we can print some guff at a later day saying what we have done. Remember your vote is important for my ego.

So funny, did they seriously believe they were in line for an award! Well done Harrow Times.

This statement released by Harrow Council on 22nd Dec 2016 is equally amusing, that Wealdstone is getting better. An alternative fact perhaps? http://www.harrow.gov.uk/news/article/445/better_trading_cleaner_streets_and_pride_in_the_community

I wonder if MP Gareth Thomas, Councillor Henson, and not lets forgot Polly, are from a parallel universe where Harrow is pristine, well-cared for and wonderful. Perhaps they are really aliens from a planet that needs to be reminded what can happen when basic standards of cleanliness are not followed. As 3rd Blind Mouse says in this universe they seem to be walking about with bags over their heads.

Horror Council get your act together and remember we vote you in and we can vote you out!
