Summer Events planned for Council Tenants

A series of community summer events, organised by Harrow Council are now in full swing with staff from the housing department out and about meeting tenants and leaseholders.

The events are part of Harrow Council’s drive to involve residents in the housing service, to encourage their views, input and feedback on services and consultations.

The events also aim to increase the number of people involved with Council services and in particular to encourage people to join their local Tenant and Resident Associations.

Following on from last year’s summer events on estates across the borough, council officers will again hold the community events at a number of locations this year (weather permitting).

Activities will vary from estate to estate below are some of the activities which will be available.

  • Housing tenants will meet the new contractors for housing repairs
  • A handyman service will be available to carry out minor repairs for tenants on the spot
  • Opportunity for residents to have their say on the Council Tax Benefit consultation
  • Colouring activities and competitions for children.
  • Cycle maintenance – opportunity for a free maintenance service provided by the Youth Offending Team.

Portfolio Holder for Housing, on Harrow Council, Councillor Bob Currie said:

“This series of summer community events at estates across the borough is part of our commitment to listen and respond to our tenants, leaseholders and residents. It also highlights the tight knit community spirit across Harrow, one that the council is keen to support and nurture.

“The event days are also a great opportunity for people to find out more about what support and advice is available from Harrow’s housing service and how they can get involved in their local resident association or panel.”

Events are planned for the following areas throughout the summer:

  • Tuesday 24th July – Little Stanmore
  • Saturday 28th July – Grange Farm Estate TRA
  • Tuesday 21st August – Honeybun Estate
  • Tuesday 28th August – Glebe Estate
  • Tuesday 4th September – Grove Estate
  • Saturday 8th September – Pinnerhill

The Saturday events will be held locally from 1 to 4.30pm, while the evening events are due to take place from 4 to 7.30pm. Please check with the local Tenant Resident Association for confirmed times and details and exact locations. Or contact Harrow Council’s housing team on 020 8420 9233.
