SusanWatch: Daily Express, January 12, 2014

susan_hall_leaderSheriff Hall’s 15 minutes of fame could be fading – in the latest article, she makes a mere footnote in an column in the Daily Express where, it seems, she and Nigel Farage appear to have something in common. The article says:

Harrow, in north-west London, is already home to 5,000 Romanians with council chiefs battling to stamp out a rise in illegal “shed in beds” where rouge landlords exploit poor families by offering cut-price and shabby accommodation in cramped back gardens.

Shocked officials have already found evidence of hundreds of migrants living in appalling conditions, paying £50 each-a-week to share a grubby mattress in a freezing outbuilding.

Tory council leader Susan Hall said: “The Express is to be commended for a series of reports which have tried to tackle the big questions the public want answered about immigration. Councils are in the front line of looking after new arrivals and the Express has done a great deal to air a necessary debate around how public services will cope under the possible influx of large numbers.”

“[R]ouge landlords exploiting poor families” should be easy enough to spot…

But more seriously, “hundreds of migrants living in appalling conditions, paying £50 each-a-week to share a grubby mattress in a freezing outbuilding.”?

A couple of weeks back there was three people, and it was never established whether they were immigrants or not:
