Three-day street market coming to North Harrow

Almost 30 stallholders are already signed up for a three day street market in North Harrow next month.

From Friday 9th to Sunday 11th March, Station Road and Pinner Road will be packed with market stalls selling food, flowers, jewellery and crafts. Other produce on sale includes clothes, handbags, beauty products and candles, with the majority of stallholders hailing from Harrow.

The market is organised by Harrow Council in partnership with the North Harrow Traders Association. It is the latest instalment in a package of measures to support traders in the area and encourage more residents to shop locally.

There is still time for businesses to sign up and join the market, with new stallholders being added to the list on a daily basis. The Council is providing stalls and pitches free of charge.

Throughout the weekend local schools and community groups will perform music and dance in North Harrow to entertain shoppers. Look out for performances in North Harrow Underground Station and along Station Road and Pinner Road.

The market is funded by the Council’s successful bid to the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund.

Cllr Keith Ferry is the portfolio holder for planning and economic development on Harrow Council. He said:

“The street market is a first for North Harrow and another great incentive for residents to come down and see how much the area has to offer. The stallholders will be selling a huge range of products to complement the great shops, cafes and restaurants in the area. Local schools and community groups will be out in force too, keeping shoppers entertained with music and dance throughout the weekend.”

The market will be open for business from 9.30am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

Local Solicitor and chair of the North Harrow Traders Association Richard Reid said: “We welcome the street market. It will encourage people to come to North Harrow and discover the range of permanent shops and services which we have here. North Harrow is more than somewhere on the way to somewhere else”.
