Under One Sky Harrow – June 30, 2013

under_one_sky_2011Cultural arts festival Under One Sky will make a welcome return over the summer with this year’s Glastonbury act Ska Cubano headlining the main stage.

Organised by Harrow Council, the Ska act tops an exuberant and enhanced programme of dance and world music to be held at Byron Park, Wealdstone, from 12.30pm to 9pm on Sunday, June 30.

Up to 10,000 revellers are expected at Harrow’s premier open air festival which showcases local talent and is the chance for families and friends to come together and see the local community at its best. There’s something for everyone at this year’s festival with more than 100 acts and activities which will keep children and adults entertained throughout the day. The festival will feature a carnival parade; open air cinema; skate park; outdoor pool; dance village and a circus and children’s village.

Revellers can also expect to find a wealth of information and advice from experts at numerous marquees, stands, and stalls. Find out more about your local services, gain advice on employment opportunities, as well as starting up or expanding your own business at Harrow Council’s Enterprise Village. Healthy living help and advice can be found at the Sports and Healthy Lifestyle marquee from representatives at NHS Northwest London, Watford and Barnet Football Clubs and Harrow Council’s Sports Development Services. With more than 100 acts and activities there’s something for everyone at this year’s festival.

Harrow Council Portfolio Holder for Community and Cultural Services, Cllr David Perry, said: “I’m incredibly proud of the hard work that is going into the eighth Under One Sky Festival which is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before. I would like to see as many Harrow residents come along as possible and let their hair down – you can’t fail to have a good time. It’s the perfect opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate our diverse borough.”
