Apple Day – October 14, 2012

Celebrate local produce, press apples, taste the juice. Local experts: Matthew Biggs, Helenka Jurgielewicz, Claudia Mernick & Pippa Reid with ‘apple tales’, Miriam’s Munchies and Merrydowners Morris

Hoi Polloi are repeating Apple Day at Grim’s Dyke Hotel, Old Redding on Sunday 14th October from 1pm to 5pm to celebrate our local fruit harvest.  This free event will give visitors to the historic location an opportunity to press their own apples and taste the juice.  The event will be taking place in Lady Gilbert’s rose garden and there will be tours of the orchard that she established in the 19th century.

In addition, local experts will be aroud to provide encouragement and advice on the cultivation, conservation and cooking of apples: Matthew Biggs – the peoples gardener, Helenka Jurgieleicz – the Head Gardener at Grim’s Dyke Hotel, Harrow Conservation Volunteers, Claudia Mernick & Pippa Reid – with ‘apple tales’, and Miriam’s Munchies.

Come and celebrate our local produce with the sounds and sights of Merrydowners Morris.
