Can you carry the torch for Harrow?

london2012Do you know a Harrow resident that deserves to take their place in Olympic history next summer? The search to find people from across the country to carry the Olympic Torch has started with Harrow residents urged to join in.

Younger residents in particular are encouraged to get involved following the call from the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) for ‘inspirational people who have proved themselves within their communities.’

It is understood that as many as half of the total number of torchbearer places available in London will go to people aged between 12 and 24.

The Olympic torch will arrive in London on Saturday 21 July 2012 and will make its way around the capital to the Olympic Stadium on the evening of Friday 27 July 2012.

As many as 8,000 torchbearers are needed to carry the flame on its 70 day journey in the run up to the London Games in July 2012.
