Chorleywood Children’s Literary Festival – March 8/9, 2014

litfest_logoThe UK’s premier celebration of children’s literature returns to the idyllic Hertfordshire countryside on 8-9 March 2014 with an inspiring programme of appearances and events at the Memorial Hall.

Chorleywood Children’s Literary Festival launched in 2013 as an offshoot of the highly successful Chorleywood Literary Festival that takes place in November each year. The owners of Chorleywood Bookshoop, Sheryl Shurville and Morag Watkins, set up the Chorleywood Literary Festival in 2006; it has since become a major annual event in the UK’s literary Calendar.

This year’s eagerly anticipated line-up includes the multi-award winning author Dame Jacqueline Wilson DBE, FRSL who will introduce us to her collection of short stories Paws and Whiskers. Illustrator Steven Lenton, talks to us about the much-loved ‘robber dogs’ Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam. Kate Maryon hosts an informal bead-craft workshop while introducing characters from her bestseller, The Invisible Girl. Jess Renison is teaming up with singer Poppy Pickles of The Frockettes to bring the UK’s favourite fictive performing-arts school to life in her Starlight Academy drama workshop. Illustrator Yasmeen Ismail invites us to join her as she enters the watercolour world of Time for Bed Fred. Author of The Bumper Book of Dinosaurs, Keiron Pim, takes us on an adventure back-in-time to the Jurassic era, and the highly acclaimed Wimpy Kid Show will be serving up some interactive family fun.
