Chorleywood LitFest: Sam Mullins – November 14, 2012

Wednesday 14th November – 7.30pm

Sam Mullins at the Chorleywood Literary Festival

Sam Mullins is Director of the London Transport Museum. He has written the official publication to mark the 150th anniversary of the world’s first underground railway, the Metropolitan, in 1863. Lavishly illustrated with previously unseen material the authors bring alive the pioneering engineers, the designers and the social reformers who created the railway, they trace the effects of its growth, its vital role during the Blitz and its continuing links to urban regeneration, past and present. The perennial challenge of keeping a fast growing city on the move, exemplified by the extreme challenge during this Olympic year, is brought to life and infused with passion. After his talk and answering questions from the audience Sam will be signing his book.
