Creating space for social enterprise in Harrow – August 19, 2015

voluntary_action_harrowOn the 19th August from 5.30pm to 8pm, young people (16- 25) in Harrow will get a chance to meet with fellow young social entrepreneurs at a brainstorming session aimed at helping them create and develop some great ideas that will benefit the local community.

The project, named the Beehive, is a youth enterprise hub which helps young people (16-25) across Harrow to create their own local community projects and social enterprises. They run monthly incubator hubs in a creative space to enable young people to meet and collaborate, learning about enterprise from social entrepreneurs and each other.

Alex Buckmire who is co-ordinating the project said “This is a great chance for young people to break the mould and create their own work.”

“This project aims to inspire young people to think outside the usual routes of employment and start thinking about business which can be environmentally friendly, socially inclusive and financially rewarding. We’ll be offering a different approach to traditional for-profit business, looking at how young people can start local community projects, social enterprise and co-operatives.”

“The next incubator hub is going to be a great way to discuss positive ideas that can make a true social impact to Harrow and our local community.”

The project which is being run by Voluntary Action Harrow Co-operative are also offering training workshops and one-to-one advice sessions to help young people develop their ideas. If you are interested in finding out more contact Alex on 02088615894 or email hello@beehiveyeh.org
