HUDC’s International Festival – June 4, 2016

hudc_logoHarrow United Deaf Club will be hosting our International Festival bringing diverse communities together to celebrate their cultures and to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday . The event will take place on Saturday 4th June 2016 at 4pm – 9pm at Member’s Lounge, Committee Rooms and the Council Chambers of Harrow Council Civic Centre, Station Road, Harrow HA1 2XY. (Please see flyer as attached).

HUDC is delighted that the event will be opened by The Mayor of Harrow and have an exciting programme on the day including a fantastic range of information and cultural stalls, guest speakers on international themes, variety of performances and mouth-watering international cuisines and many more.

HUDC is pleased to be working in partnership with Harrow Council, Harrow College, Karan of KSPARK entertainment.  Harrow College will be providing a range of hair and beauty session including make-up, nail-painting for people who wish to be pampered. Karan, an international star will be running a Bollywood Masterclass, a Bollywood dance workshop for guests to have fun. Those workshops will be available throughout the afternoon. Hasnian Somji of Caketastic (taste it and you’ll love it) will make a special cake to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday cake.

We have fantastic evening cultural performances lined up including Bollywood Dance from KSPARK entertainment; Bengali dancer; Flamenco Dancers and dance performance from Harrow Tamil School Association. Not only it stops there, we will also have a fantastic range of speakers on diversity of our communities – bringing people together e.g: Speakers on Teamwork Jesus used a great metaphor of ‘working together’,Black History; celebrating Chinese New Year; sharing the Pride (LGBT); sharing Asian woman experience; a Muslim man embracing Islam and a traveller meeting communities around the world. An event not to be missed.

We will be marking the occasion of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th Birthday with a special presentation. Asif Iqbal MBE, President of Harrow United Deaf Club wish to express congratulation from everyone at Harrow United Deaf Club: “We wish to congratulate the Queen on her 90th birthday. She is a great inspiration to us all in UK and worldwide with so much achievements in her reign”.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to local communities together to celebrate our International festival, sharing information and experiences about our different cultures and way of life.

Sylvia Simmonds, one of the guest speakers for the event exclaimed: “Awesome event – It is rare and unique opportunity to gather with both Deaf and Hearing to celebrate this event. Come and join with us to celebrate our identities in many ways – most of all – enjoy and treasure our values.”

The entrance to the event is FREE for all, please join us to celebrate by wearing cultural dress/ international costumes of your choice.

There will be lots of cultural foods, clothing, beauty & jewellery and many more, available on sale – please make sure you bring money with you.

    Asif Iqbal and his HUDC members have arranged something truly unique which will bring ALL our citizens together–no matter what religion or culture to whom you belong,the hearing and the non-hearing,young and old and so many folk from different walks of life making their special contributions on this red letter day which not only includes the Chinese celebration but also that of Asians and other cultures.There will be stalls selling foods form all over the world and dancers who will enthrall you with their fabulous dancing.Over and above that we are celebrating the 90th birthday of our charming and illustrious Queen.So much on offer!

    Sincerely hope many of you will attend and support this event and make it a truly memorable one.Asif and his wonderful HUDC members are giving it their all.Now it is for us Harrovians to back them whole-heartedly and come in our numbers to this unique event.Hope to see many of you there and have a great time together!
