Northolt Fire Station Open Day – September 10th

Northolt fire station opens its doors to local people…

Northolt Fire Station is set to open its doors this Saturday 10 September, giving an insight into the vital life saving service London Fire Brigade provides to local people.

Firefighter Lee Coleman from Northolt Fire Station said: “It will be great day and as well as being able to take a closer look at the fire engines, people will be able to see us carry out some firefighter training exercises”.

During the open day, local residents will be able to see exercises such as firefighters cutting the roof of a car off to demonstrate skills needed to deal with people who are trapped in road traffic accidents and a ladder pitching drill on the station’s tower. Northolt’s crews will also be carrying out a hot oil demonstration, highlighting just how lethal it is to pour water onto hot oil in the kitchen.

Firefighters will be on hand offering visitors fire safety advice and an opportunity for residents to book free home fire safety visits. London’s firefighters carry out thousands of free home fire safety visits every year; they visit people in their homes to help them spot any potential fire hazards and show them what to do to reduce the risk of fire.

The open day will run from 11am to 4pm, with refreshments available to purchase throughout the day.

Northolt fire station address: 84 Petts Hill, Northolt, UB5 4JT.
