Countdown to Olympics hots up in Harrow with the Olympic Torch Relay

Get ready to celebrate the beginning of the greatest sporting event on the planet, when the Olympic Flame passes through Harrow on Wednesday 25th July at 8.30am.

The event will begin at the picturesque location of Headstone Manor and ends at the bottom of Sudbury Hill. The torch will be carried through Harrow by inspirational people who have been nominated by people they know. They will run through Harrow’s streets and pass the flame from person to person before handing the flame over to Brent.

Events will take place along the route to celebrate Harrow’s culture and diversity with music, dance, and visual performances. Details of the events and where to watch will be announced by Harrow Council at a later date.

Cllr David Perry, Portfolio Holder for Community and Cultural Services said: “I can’t wait for Harrow to be part of this ancient tradition. This is going to be a fantastic event for the borough and I am proud that we have such great community spirit and initiative in Harrow, and so much enthusiasm for the games so far. Supporting and promoting both the Olympics and the Paralympic games is very important to us in Harrow. We want our residents to feel part of the build up and the torch relay is just another example of our commitment to this. There is a genuine interest and excitement about London 2012 here and Harrow Council is committed to creating an Olympic legacy in our borough.”
