Pinner’s Grand Houses and People who Lived in Them – March 2, 2017

pinner_lhsThe Pinner Local History Society’s Research Group presentation, on the subject of “Pinner’s Grand Houses and People who Lived in Them”, features original research by Society members will be on Thursday 2 March, at 8 pm, at Pinner Village Hall, in the Chapel Lane car park, HA5 5AA. Visitors are welcome: ¬£3.

Graham Elcombe will talk about the comparatively humble houses which would have been the grandest in Pinner at the end of the medieval period; Thamar MacIver will speak about grand houses which dominated local society around 1900; Michael Treisman will discuss The Grove, one of Pinner’s older lost grand houses; and Pat Clarke will introduce us to The Towers, home of celebrity cook, Agnes Marshall.

    Agnes Marshall & Mrs Beeton both lived in Pinner although few remember Mrs Marshall as her husband sold out the rights to her works to Mrs Beetons publishers then he ruined the business she is however considered the Greatest Victorian Ice Cream Maker
