Proscenium Presents: “Arsenic and Lace” – June 10-13, 2015

Proscenium Presents: “Arsenic & Old Lace” A murderous comedy, by Joseph Kesselring

Proscenium completes its current season with a play that The Guardian described as ‘an inspired and delightful comic concoction, which combines the cosy charm and ingenious plotting of an Agatha Christie Whodunit with a much sharper and more knowing satirical perspective.’

Drama critic Mortimer Brewster tackles his crazy family and the New York police as he debates whether or not he should marry the woman he loves.

His two spinster aunts murder lonely old men by offering them homemade elderberry wine laced with arsenic, strychnine and ‘just a pinch’ of cyanide.

Meanwhile, Mortimer’s brother, who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt, digs locks for the Panama Canal in the cellar.

To complete the cosy gathering, another brother, the homicidally inclined Jonathan, arrives and threatens to send the body count even higher…

Join us for an evening of horrid laughter, but keep an eye on anyone who offers you a drink.
