VAH: Volunteers Becoming Trustees – April 30, 2014

voluntary_action_harrowHarrow trustees and volunteers have been invited to attend a meeting on the 30th April to discuss how charities boards can strengthen through diversity and differentiated ownership.

It’s not uncommon to find that most charity board members (trustees) started off by volunteering for their organisation before becoming more involved.

At this meeting attendees will be discussing if recruiting volunteers as trustees helps to bridge the gap between volunteering and trusteeship. They’ll be considering if urging volunteers to become charity trustees is a good way for them to gain new skills, work experience and provide a representative voice for their fellow volunteers. They’ll also be briefly looking at the best methods of how to recruit new trustees and how to diversify charity boards.

Following the discussion there will be a networking session for all to share experiences, ideas and get to know more about each other and their groups, and hopefully form collaborative partnerships.
