Guest Post: The Sale of Council Assets

guest_postI would like to answer Cllr Stoodley on the sale of Council assets ie:- Council Houses and council land.

Now to quote Cllr Stoodley in this link  “…if you thought it was one of those lovely large houses in The Gardens, coz that ain’t quite the whole truth!!” And another quote “…because you clearly have absolutely no idea how this works, bless you!” as a result of your condescending remarks I thought I would try and “see how it works” so I had a look. Here’s what I found:

You were right Cllr Stoodley. I am only a lowly council tenant. I had absolutely no idea of the amount of OUR assets that had already been sold off in the past seven years, I make it around £10,439,500 and still counting.

And there is even more planned for the future: £12M for 2013/14and £10M for 2014/15 from the disposal programme – there will be no assets left in Harrow at this rate….as I said before why not sell one or two assets and use that money to do up the other ones that way we are not selling ALL our assets… They are selling these assets to fund other services, are we now relying on selling assets to balance the books, what happens when Harrow has nothing left to sell off?

Here is the picture of the “This is the old derelict caretaker’s house” 3 bedroom ex-caretakers house for sale on the 13th Feb 2014:

And is this a picture of another! “old derelict caretaker’s house” 3 bedroom ex-caretakers house Cllr Stoodley?

bazza_2

Sold for £285.00 and here is that very same “This is the old derelict caretaker’s house” 10 months later! Selling for nearly double the price!

And is this a picture of another! “old derelict caretaker’s house” 3 bedroom ex-caretakers house Cllr Stoodley?

bazza_4

And I would suspect this is another “old derelict caretaker’s house” 3 bedroom ex-caretakers house Cllr Stoodley?

bazza_5

This “old derelict caretaker’s house” 3 bedroom ex-caretakers house was withdrawn for some reason:

And now what about these other assets sold off:

This one has not been sold yet 13th this month it is massive place with a plot of land at the back:

And then we come to other assets sold off, like these:

Dear anonymous, if you have issues with the above sales you need to take them up with the Portfolio Holder responsible, currently Cllr Steve Wright. Hope this helps?

I am AMAZED at the lack of response to this article from all the Harrow councillors that use this site!! Do you ALL agree with the selloff of our assets? Who makes the decision to sell our assets? I will see be interested to see what Mr Proctor from the Harrow Observer and Mr Kirk from the Harrow Times and maybe even the national press think about this article of Harrow selling off all its assets.
It seems that every week in one of the Local papers there are a group of local residents saying the same thing, why are the Council selling off our assets, again this week in the Observer a group from Cannons Park Residents Association are against the sale of the park keeper’s lodge and gardens. I don’t think Harrow residents realize the scale of the selloff, maybe when they see them all the sales over the past few years in one article it will hit home and I hope they will do something about the people responsible for selling all OUR assets… I hope they ask question like…… how many new Council houses have been built with the millions of pounds raised from the selloff??? What has all the money raised from the selloff been spent on??

Oh and by the way Cllr Stoodley “This is the old derelict caretaker’s house” went for £415.000…… must have been in a shocking state……..
But the other massive property that is ripe for developers only went for £1.3m someone is going to make a load of money on that sale,

  3. Cllr Willy Stoodley

So Bazza let me get this straight – you’re unhappy with the sale of 51 The Gardens because it sold for too much and you’re unhappy with the sale of “the other massive property” because it sold for so little.

Bazza – you need to make your mind up! And when you have, contact Cllr Steve Wright – he’s the Portfolio Holder – these decisions have nothing to do with me, unfortunately.
