NHS Harrow Walk-In Centres – changes

nhs_hospital-150x150From January 1st, there are a couple of changes in Harrow surrounding NHS walk-in centres:

  • Alexandra Avenue Health and Social Care Centre

Originally open 8.00am – 8.00pm seven days a week, this will no longer offer weekday services for walk-in patients. In fact, it’ll now be open only from 8.00am – 4.00pm Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. That’s just about a fifth of the hours it was originally opened for.

  • Harness Harrow Walk-In Centre, Mollison Way

This will no longer accept walk-in patients.

The current advise is to call your GP, and “if it’s urgent, your GP will make arrangements to see you the same day.” There is also the telephone-based NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 which can help guide you to the most appropriate route to care, although with winter approaching, it could well be several days before you get a call back on non-urgent issues.

It seems almost yesterday that we had people queuing up to trumpet the benefits of these walk-in centres. Progress…
