Firefighters rescue three from flat fire in Harrow – August 30, 2012

Firefighters were called to a fire in a flat in a sheltered housing development on Harkett Close in Harrow this afternoon [August 30, 2012]. Three elderly people were rescued by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus and 15 others were evacuated by the Brigade. The fire damaged about half of a four roomed ground floor flat, but fortunately no one was injured.

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters from Mill Hill, Willesden, Wembley, and Northolt fire stations were at the scene. The Brigade was called at 1350 and the fire was under control at 1450.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but at this stage it is thought to be accidental.
