Bogus Callers Spotted in Edgware

police_lantern_2-150x150A white man, approximately 40 years of age called at the home of elderly resident in St Bride’s Avenue, Edgware and identified himself as a police officer. The man who was not wearing a police uniform at the time was dressed in a faded blue tracksuit with a logo on the pocket and showed what we believe to be a fake ID pass. The elderly woman had a friend with her at the time and the man left without any further incident.

A man called at an address in Buckingham Road, Edgware saying he was there to investigate rat droppings. The elderly disabled man let the caller in using the buzzer. He saw the man pass his door and go straight into the kitchen. It is thought that the man then left the flat without taking anything and without checking for rats. The resident heard the man knocking on the doors of some other flats. He called the council to check on this person and they confirmed that they had no record of anyone from the council checking for rats.

The man is described as being white, aged approximately 40 – 45, about 5′ 10″ in height, wearing dark clothing and a badge around his neck. He spoke with a London accent.

If anyone calls at your home, fitting either of these descriptions don’t let them in and call 999 immediately. If you can provide police with any further information call 101.
