Chain Snatch Suspect Arrested in South Harrow

It was only a few days ago that the Borough Commander, Dal Babu, advised residents in his weekly blog to be wary of displaying gold chains whilst out and about:

We have seen a recent increase in the theft of gold necklaces where the suspects approach vulnerable victims, especially elderly Asian woman and snatch the necklaces they are wearing. We have had 22 offences in the past three months.

This morning, Harrow Police report that  they arrested a 16-year-old mail on suspicion of a chain snatch in South Harrow yesterday evening.

It’s worth reminding people that Harrow Police “…would strongly recommend to cover up your jewellery whilst out on the street to avoid your chances of becoming a victim of this crime. Please look out for elderly and vulnerable friends, relatives and neighbours and pass this crime prevention information onto them as we need to get this message out into the community.”
