Dogs at risk from tampered food in Harrow’s Parks

police_lantern_2-150x150The Met’s Safer Neighbourhood team in Canons Park are warning on incidents where food has been left in parks with ‘objects deliberately placed inside to harm animals.’

An example they give is sausage meat, which had glass inside.

They are warning dog walkers to be vigilant of such objects, and note that it has been reported elsewhere in the borough, and isn’t just isolated to Canons Park.

Unfortunately, this despicable act seems to be on the increase since the council stopped locking park gates, and reduced the maintenance – and in some parks, removing the park keepers entirely. The absence of such supervision and visibility was always going to see an increase in anti-social behaviours, and this is just one example of that.

20150816_dog_poisonAny tip offs, etc, should go to the 101 non-emergency number, or 020 8721 2995 for Canons Safer Neighbourhoods Team. In an emergency, we should point out, always call 999.
